In Cairns, which is located in Australia’s tropical north, there is an enormous supply of quality accommodation. The far North Queensland region is host to some of Australia’s most important tourist attractions and consequently huge numbers of visitors flock here on a year round basis and come from all corners of the globe. Cairns accommodation comes in an extraordinary variety and there will be some thing to suit your requirements and budget. The city area has everything ranging from backpacker hostels through quality family self serviced apartments and a complete range of hotels and motels. To the north lie the Cairns beaches which include Yorkys Knob, Trinity and Clifton Beaches, Palm Cove and Ellis Beach. In all of these towns there is resort style accommodation right along the beachfront. The golf enthusiast is also well catered for with a number of golfing resorts on offer.

A little further north and along one of the worlds most spectacular ocean roads is the resort village of Port Douglas. This is a great destination for any tourist with a fantastic range of accommodation set in a tropical coastal destination. The holiday atmosphere in Port Douglas ensures it is always busy and there is a host of tours and shopping opportunities to keep you entertained. When staying in the Cairns region there are many things you must include on your itinerary. A trip to the Great Barrier Reef is a must. There are many options to choose from which include day trips on either a fast catamaran or a slower more relaxing day aboard a stylish yacht. The extended trips cater to the dive industry which is massive in the region. Cairns is the closest jumping off point to the reef and every conceivable type of tour is catered for. To the north of Cairns lie the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation. Once again there is a host of tour options available, most of which will pick you up from your accommodation. Inland is the Atherton Tableland which contains several must see destinations which include the Undara lava Tubes, Lake Eacham and the curtain fig tree. Prolific rain forests also mix with the local agricultural lands.

A trip on the Skyrail should be on every ones agenda. You will travel up the mountain to Kuranda aboard a cable car travelling just at treetop level above the rainforest and then return to Cairns via the rail link which will carry you over the spectacular Barron Falls. This is an opportunity not to be missed. For island lovers there are several options in the Cairns region. Green Island is the closest and there is a luxury resort to be enjoyed. Some of the others include Lizard Island resort, Fitzroy Island, Dunk Island resort and Hinchinbrook island.
