The Island is serviced by both passenger and vehicular ferries that run to a regular schedule.

Townsville is a beautiful city with many parks and gardens and a waterfront that is the envy of most other coastal cities. The Strand which runs along the main beachfront has been fully redeveloped and has now become a hub of activities for locals and holidaymakers alike. There is a range of restaurants and cafes as well as a terrific water park to cool down and entertain the kids. There is also an Olympic size swimming pool. A short drive to the north will take you to the rainforests of the Paluma range. Here are mountain streams and magnificent rainforest scenery that provides an excellent destination for a day tour.

Townsville is easy to access as it has both an international and domestic airport. Regular flights are available from most centres. For those who are looking for an island holiday that provides some of the best hospitality in the world then you should try Orpheus Island which lies just offshore.
