For the tens of thousands of ski enthusiasts living in Melbourne, Mount Buller is the closest and best of Victoria’s ski resorts. You can either drive yourself or take the ski bus and you can go for a day or stay on the slopes for a week. Mount Buller has plenty of on snow accommodation which is mostly located either side of its busiest ski run. This run is known as Bourke Street and it is lined by a combination of resorts, hostels, lodges, restaurants and cafes. Mount Buller has everything the avid skier and snowboarder needs. There is a huge lift capacity to keep the queues short, Snow cannons to help nature when the snow is late, ski patrol, ski lessons and lots of other great facilities.
The drive from Melbourne takes a bit over two hours so it is possible to make day trips to the resort. Of snow accommodation is available in nearby Mansfield at the foot of the mountains for those who don’t mind the drive up to the slopes. Mount Buller compares favourably with Victoria’s other major ski resorts at Falls Creek and Mount Hotham.
