A day ski resort, Mount Selwyn Skiing feature some of the newest ski areas in the Snowy region and the only resort in the northern end of Kosciusko National Park. There are 13 lifts that can take you to 11km of groomed trails that cater for beginners to intermediate level. And even if there hasn’t been a lot of snow fall during the ski season there are perfectly place snowmaking machine to ensure that you have great snow skiing conditions are of the time.
Mt Selwyn has an ideal beginners area and friendly ski school and offers an extensive hire and ski shop with lockers. You can also find a restaurant with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges to sit down and enjoy a scrumptious meal at as well as providing you with a bistro and bar area to enjoy a relaxing drink with friends before hitting the slopes again.
The slopes are graded from beginners through to advanced, and provides 40% of the slopes for beginners, 48% for intermediate skiers and 12% for the more advanced skiers.
Private and group lessons are available from a number of the instructors on the mountain that are more than willing to teach you how to ski and even if you have done some snow skiing in the past but wish to brush up on your skills they can help you with that too. Many of the patient instructors are from other snowfield countries and because our southern hemisphere winter coincides with their summer, they enjoy the best of skiing year long.
Mount Selwyn provides many fun filled activities for children starting from the age of 18 months. Selwyn Snow World is the Snow Sports School Centre for children from 18 months to 6 years. Kids can have a ball with lots of fun and educational activities to do including skiing in their own private and dedicated children’s learning area serviced by Gentle Annie – the moving carpet lift.
There is also Mini Mites which is a program for children from 18 months to 2 years that introduces children to the snow environment with both indoor and outdoor games and activities. For the children between the ages of 3 and 4 Mount Selwyn runs a program called Mighty Mites. It helps the kids develop confidence and ability on skis and in the snow. And then there is the Mega Mites program run specifically for children between 5 and 6 where they learn the basic skiing skills to be able to tackle to slopes on their own and even receive a certificate upon successful completion for all of their hard work.
