About this tour
Chase humpback whales off Broome's coast on a 3.5-hour sunset cruise with a marine biologist steering the conversation. Between June and September, these giants migrate past Western Australia, and you'll spot them breaching, calves practising, plus sea turtles and dolphins. The vessel's quick and efficient, keeping everyone comfortable while minimising environmental impact. Hydrophone lets you hear their calls live. Grab snacks and hot drinks included; the bar stocks alcohol if you need it, or bring your own. Transfers from your Broome digs are free.

What to expect
You'll depart at 3pm and head straight to prime whale-spotting waters. Expect a working commentary from the biologist—they'll explain migration patterns, feeding behaviours and why certain whales travel so far. Most days you'll see multiple breaches and tail slaps; calves are often curious and come closer. The pace is steady; the vessel's built for stability, so even if the swell picks up, you won't feel thrown around. As the sun drops, the light shifts gold and orange. The hydrophone moment hits around 5pm—suddenly you're hearing their songs underwater, a proper humbling experience. Children get activity packs to keep them engaged. Restrooms are onboard. Most of it you'll spend on deck, binoculars in hand.
Good to know
Bring sunscreen, hat and polarised sunglasses—reflection off the water is brutal. Wear layers; it's cooler on the water than shore-side. Soft drinks aren't provided, only coffee, tea and water. Whales are guaranteed or you get a free return cruise. Infants sit on laps; prams stow below deck.
