What to expect

You'll enter a warm, humid enclosure designed to mimic tropical rainforest conditions. Butterflies flutter at various heights around you—some land on clothing or arms if you're patient and still. The landscape includes native plants and flowering shrubs that serve as both habitat and visual backdrop. Staff-led tours explain lifecycle stages, migration patterns, and conservation efforts. The laboratory section shows pupae, breeding setups, and rearing techniques. The foodplant walk highlights which vegetation supports each species, connecting conservation to ecology.

Good to know

Venue closes at 3 pm daily, so arrive mid-morning for unhurried viewing. Wear neutral colours to avoid startling insects. Wheelchairs and prams are accommodated throughout. No hotel transfers included; arrange your own transport to Kuranda.
