About this tour
Spend eight hours at Green Island, a coral cay within the Great Barrier Reef accessible by boat from Cairns. This full-day excursion combines reef diving with island exploration—choose between introductory dives for first-timers or certified dives if you're PADI-qualified. Snorkel the shallows, walk through rainforest, or opt for a glass-bottom boat tour and buffet lunch to round out your day.
Highlights
- Introductory reef dives for complete beginners, no certification needed
- Up to 5.5 hours exploring Green Island itself
- Snorkel directly over coral or choose glass-bottom boat alternative
- Tropical rainforest walks on the island
- Optional semi-submersible tour and buffet lunch available
- Suitable for families with children aged 12 and over
What to expect
After a boat transfer from Cairns, you'll arrive at Green Island mid-morning. If diving, you'll complete a brief pool-side briefing before entering the water with an instructor—introductory dives take place in shallow, protected areas. Non-divers can snorkel independently or board the glass-bottom vessel to watch reef life without getting wet. Between water activities, wander the island's forested paths or claim a patch of sand. Lunch (if selected) is served buffet-style. The pace is relaxed; you control how much or little you do.
Good to know
Moderate fitness required; the tour isn't suitable for pregnant travellers or those with heart conditions. Children under 12 can snorkel and explore but cannot dive. Book your snorkel or glass-bottom preference when reserving. Public transport reaches the departure point.
