What to expect

You'll start with a flight briefing before boarding for your 40-minute aerial tour. The pilot will bank over Green Island and the reef's patchwork of blues and greens, then head inland to the Daintree before returning along the coast. Once back on the water, you'll board a reef boat and head to deeper outer reef sites where visibility tends to be clearer. Snorkelling typically lasts 1.5 to 2 hours, with crew nearby to point out fish and coral formations. The combination of height and depth means you experience the reef at two different scales.

Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a light shirt for sun protection. Food and drinks aren't provided, so eat beforehand. Infants sit on laps during the flight. Minimum two people per booking. Hotel pickups only available in central Cairns; elsewhere you'll need to arrange your own transport to the departure point.
