About this tour

Spend nine to thirteen hours on Moreton Island, Australia's third-largest sand island, combining three distinct activities in one outing. Departing from Brisbane or the Gold Coast, you'll navigate the island's sandy expanses by 4WD to the Tangalooma Wrecks for snorkelling and kayaking among coral reefs, then tackle towering dunes on a sandboard. Lunch on the beach and scenic downtime round out the day. Transport, equipment, wetsuits and life vests are included; national park and ferry levies apply on departure.

Highlights

  • Snorkel and kayak around shipwrecks and coral formations
  • Sandboard down massive dunes with professional guidance
  • 4WD traverse across pristine island sands
  • Lunch on the beach with free time to explore
  • Wetsuits and safety gear supplied throughout

What to expect

You'll meet your group at Brisbane Coach Terminal or Gold Coast and travel by shuttle to catch the ferry to Moreton Island. Once there, a 4WD bus carries you across the sand to reach the Tangalooma Wrecks, where you'll enter the water for a guided snorkel and paddling session—jetski support is available if you're not a confident swimmer. After these water-based activities, the group heads inland to the sand dunes for sandboarding instruction and free runs down the slopes. Lunch is a DIY sandwich or wrap eaten beachside. You'll have time to rest and take in the landscape before the return journey.
