About this tour

Cruise the Murchison River aboard Kalbarri's sole river vessel, a 2.5-hour journey through red-rock gorges and open bushland (April to November). A skipper shares local knowledge about the region's fishing heritage, native plants and wildlife whilst you drift past dramatic riverside cliffs. Tea, coffee and biscuits included. Accessible to all mobility levels and ages.

Highlights

  • Red-rock gorges and expansive river vistas
  • Local commentary on fishing heritage and native flora
  • Complimentary hot drinks and biscuits onboard
  • Fully wheelchair accessible vessel and facilities
  • Suitable for infants through to older travellers

What to expect

You'll board a purpose-built river cruiser and spend two and a half hours drifting downstream, taking in the Murchison's natural corridor. The skipper provides colour and context about the area's past, local ecology and why fishing mattered here. Expect gentle pace and plenty of quiet moments to absorb the landscape. The open deck offers shelter, and you're welcome to settle in with a hot beverage and watch the sandstone walls slide past. If you want something stronger, a small bar serves beer, wine, champagne and cider from 11am onwards.

Good to know

Bring extra snacks if you wish—the licence bar doesn't open until mid-morning. Prams and strollers are fine for young children. All decks and amenities are accessible, and service animals travel free. Runs April through November only.
