About this tour
A one-hour group snorkel at Shelly Beach puts you amongst Sydney's thriving underwater ecosystem alongside other keen swimmers. You'll navigate shallow reefs teeming with fish and sea life in crystalline water, guided by experienced locals who know where the action happens. Gear—mask, snorkel and rash vest—is supplied; bring your own wetsuit if the water feels cold. Best suited to people comfortable swimming independently in open water.

What to expect
Expect a relaxed pace through Shelly Beach's protected waters, where you'll spot wrasse, gropers, and smaller reef fish moving through the rocks. The guide will point out features and check in regularly, but this is independent snorkelling—not a tightly managed group. You'll spend most of the hour in the water, with a briefing beforehand and a wind-down afterwards. The beach sits on public transport routes, so getting there is straightforward. Water temperature varies seasonally; many locals add their own wetsuits for comfort.
Good to know
Confident swimming in open water is non-negotiable—inexperienced swimmers should book the private one-on-one instead. Wetsuits aren't included; bring your own or hire elsewhere. Underwater cameras cost extra. Prams and strollers are welcome on the accessible beach paths.
