What to expect

You'll board a vessel and glide slowly upstream into a landscape that feels untouched. The water runs dark from tea-tree tannins, but calm—so calm it becomes a mirror for sky and vegetation. The guide points out how freshwater bubbles from the sandmass and filters through the native ecosystem. Around each bend the light shifts; late afternoon brings warm tones. There's no roar of engines or jet skis, just the soft burble of the boat and bird calls. You'll have time to photograph, absorb, sit quiet with a drink in hand.

Good to know

Infants travel free but must remain on an adult's lap throughout. Bring a camera and a hat—sun reflects hard off the water. All fitness levels welcome; you sit the entire time. The journey departs from Habitat Noosa Everglades Eco Camp and returns there.
