What to expect
You'll meet Gaz or one of his experienced instructors at Clarkes Beach and spend time on dry land going through stance, paddling technique, and how to read the swell before entering the water. Expect a mix of one-on-one tips and group observation as you work on popping up and holding your line. The three hours includes time in the shallows building confidence, then graduating to chest-high sets if conditions allow. Pace adjusts to your level—whether you're completely new or refining your technique.
Good to know
Clarkes Beach is protected and rarely hollow, making it forgiving for learners. Bring sunscreen and a towel. Photos are candid rather than posed, shot from the beach or shallows. Service animals are welcome. Not suitable if you have spinal injuries, are pregnant, or have significant cardiovascular concerns.
