About this tour
Access the working heart of Sydney Opera House before the public arrives. This 3-hour backstage tour starts at 7am with a guide who'll lead you through restricted areas—dressing rooms, orchestra pit, stage wings—where international artists have prepared performances. You'll climb over 300 stairs to see how the venue operates behind the curtain, then sit down to breakfast in the crew's private Green Room with coffee, juice and a hot meal.

What to expect
Arrive at Stage Door by 6:45am sharp for a 7am start. Your guide will lead you through narrow passages, up flights of stairs, and into spaces the audience never sees—where stagehands coordinate shows and artists prepare. You'll peer into private dressing rooms, descend into the orchestra pit, and walk the wings where crew manage set changes. Expect cramped quarters, steep climbing, and plenty of technical detail about how performances come together. The tour finishes with a proper breakfast: espresso or tea, juice, and your choice of smashed avocado on toast, bacon and eggs, croissant, or yoghurt bowl served in the Green Room.
