Tropical North Queensland is one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations. The region starts at Townsville in the south and extends to Cape York in the north and in between is one of the world’s most sensational holiday destinations. Just to the north along Cairns northern Beaches there is a large number of beach front resorts just waiting to tempt you. At Palm Cove the range is sensational. A little further north along one of the world’s most spectacular coastal drives lies the resort town of Port Douglas. Here you will find some of the most exclusive and beautiful resorts in Australia. Port Douglas is located on an inlet with great marina and sensational shopping facilities. The restaurants and cafés along McCrossan St are second to none and the village like atmosphere is terrific. There are many touring options available from this region. You must visit Cooktown and the Daintree rainforest and also take the Skyrail to Kuranda and return to Cairns via the railway over the Barron falls. There is also a quiet side to the north Queensland experience. Towns like Mission Beach, Palm Cove, Townsville, Mossman, Cooktown and Magnetic Island can provide a laid back country ambience unlike anything else. The city of Townsville is also a must see location with great accommodation and the Strand is a really special family tourist destination.
